Conference on ‘Promoting Emotional and Social Competence and Wellbeing in Schools’

Keynote Speakers:

  • Katherine Weare, author of 2003 DfES Report ‘What works in Developing Children’s Emotional and Social Competence and Wellbeing?’
  • Adrian Faupel, Senior Educational Psychologist, Southampton and co-author of 'Anger Management : A Practical Guide.'

Seminars:

There will be a range of seminar presentations run by practitioners to hear about existing work, share good practice and develop ideas.

Date: Friday, 11th June 2004 Time: 9.30 am - 4.00 pm

Venue: Newcastle Springfield Centre, Newcastle upon Tyne.

Cost: £120 (to include lunch and refreshments)

Theme: The conference aims to:

  • Increase awareness of the importance of emotional and social competence and wellbeing for learning
  • Increase awareness of strategies for developing children and young people’s emotional and social competence and wellbeing - what works
  • Share examples of work that is taking place locally and nationally

The conference will be useful to Headteachers, SENCos and school staff with pastoral responsibilities, LEA officers, educational psychologists, education welfare officers, special educational needs and behaviour support service staff and to other professionals working with vulnerable children and young people in schools within a multi-disciplinary context.
