WELIG launches on the web

www.wellwilts.info, the website of the Wiltshire Emotional Literacy Interest Group (WELIG) is now up and running. It is still very new and there are plans to extend it considerably.

Welig was involved in running a 2 day conference on 22nd May and 10th July for Health professionals and education on Mental Health and Emotional Literacy. Peter Sharp came and did the lead speech and talked about working at the front line with emotions. 80 people attended- health visitors, child protection nurses, teachers, community nurses GPs and voluntary workers. It is hoped that people will take some ideas from the conference, network with others interested in the same area and in the time before the next day in July to have thought about developing their own professional skills and looked into informaing their work practice. Workshops included meditation, stress and relaxation, Coping with difficult clients, drumming and touch and the healing process.

Meanwhile, welig is supporting 12 projects in Wiltshire in schools and agencies in developing expertise and knowledge in their organisations in Emotional Literacy. We have been given £6000 from the Standard Fund for action research supported by the Educational Psychology Service. We hope to publish these projects next year 2003, and to hold a conference in July 2003. So things are happening at rather a rapid rate. We do hope people will look at the web site and register as a friend.
